Fascial Release Technique

Fascial Release is an effective hands-on therapy used to treat soft tissue dysfunction, pain and restriction of movement.

Fascia, or connective tissue, provides support and protection for the structures within the body and is continuous from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet.  When it is healthy the fascia is very organized and flexible, however, if physical trauma (i.e. whiplash, surgery or habitually poor posture) or inflammation is experienced it can become tight, restricted and a source of tension and pain.

Fascial Release Technique uses slow and sometimes deep pressure to restore the proper health of the fascia and is done without oil.  It can be used effectively for a wide range of soft tissue dysfunction with the benefits including reduction in muscle spasm, improved joint movement, improved breathing and reduction in chronic recurring injuries.  The pressure used can range from light to deep, but should never be beyond the patient's tolerance.

Cranio Sacral Therapy

Cranio Sacral Therapy (CST) is a subtle modality which yields powerful results. It is a gentle and reliable method of detection which encourages the patient’s own healing mechanisms to correct the accumulative results of stress.

CST helps with many conditions, from colic to PTSD to post Motor Vehicle Accident trauma. CST can be performed with the patient fully clothed or in conjuction with other techniques. It works with the bones of the cranium and sacrum to release restrictions within the spinal cord. The result is a central nervous system that is free of restrictions and a body that is able to return to a greater level of performance.

 Somatics

Growth and change in the body are possible at any age.

Somatic exercises change your muscular system by changing your nervous system(Neuro-muscular Re-patterning).  It is important while doing the exercises to focus and concentrate on sensory information as a direct way to maintain control of your movements.

All exercises are done slowly and gently, on the floor or on the table, with the least amount of effort.  This helps the brain to reconnect or "talk" to muscles that have forgotten how to move.  This is called Sensory Motor Amnesia and somatic exercise changes your body by re-training your brain.

Persistence, Patience and Positive are 3 key words to exemplify healing with Somatics.

Manual Lymph Drainage

MLD uses a gentle and rhythmic technique which targets the lymphatic system but also affects the nervous system in its analgesic effect on the body.  The lymphatic system carries and removes lymph fluids throughout the body, filtering bacteria and foreign matter from the bloodstream.  Movement of the lymph fluid improves immunity and removes toxins.  It also prevents swelling in the extremities which could lead to Lymphoedema.

Despite the light touch most people experience deep relaxation and rejuvenation.  It is often the best technique for pain management in palliative patients.
